Purpose:  

To ensure equal and fair treatment and accommodation to all patients at Diagnostic Imaging Centers, P.A.

To outline patient rights and responsibilities in their care.

Scope:

This policy applies to all employees and radiologists at Diagnostic Imaging Centers, P.A. (DIC).

 Policy/Procedure:

  1. Diagnostic Imaging Centers does not discriminate in any way in the treatment and accommodation of patients presenting for diagnostic exams.  Diagnostic Imaging Centers does not discriminate based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, source of income, or any other characteristic protected by law. 
  1. The patient has the right to:

·     Considerate and respectful care.

·     Medical information concerning diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

·     Information necessary to give informed consent prior to procedure.

·     Refuse treatment and to be informed of medical consequences.

·     Privacy and confidentiality concerning communications, medical care, and medical records.

·        Obtain copies or summaries of their medical records.

·        Obtain a second opinion.

·        Obtain information as to any relationship that Diagnostic Imaging Centers has to other healthcare and educational institutions.

·        Refuse participation in any research projects.

·        Reasonable continuity of care.

·        Examine and receive an explanation of the bill.

·        An estimate of charges for medical care.

·        Access clinic rules and regulations that apply to patient conduct.

·        Voice concerns or complaints regarding your care. 

  1. All patients have the following responsibilities.

·        To be considerate of the rights of other patients and Diagnostic Imaging Center’s personnel.

·        To provide accurate and complete information concerning health status, medical history, medications, and other matters related to health.

·        To follow the instructions of technologists and radiologists as they carry out exams as ordered by your physician.

·        To ask questions when there is a lack of understanding.

·        To follow Diagnostic Imaging Centers and building policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

·        To be respectful of personal property of self and others.

·        To keep appointments or notify Diagnostic Imaging Centers when unable to do so.

·        To be responsible for actions if treatment is refused or physician orders are not followed.

·        To ensure financial obligations to Diagnostic Imaging Centers are fulfilled as promptly as possible.

·        To inform Diagnostic Imaging Centers of a violation of patient rights or safety concerns.
